American Problems, Trans Solutions (25m) Award-winning journalist Imara Jones travels the country to share the stories of three Black trans leaders tackling housing, economic empowerment, and migrant rights, showing resilience and vision amid a surge of anti-trans legislation. Diffidence (12m) When his identity is discovered, a transgender man is assaulted and rejected by his parents and peers. Sent to a conversion camp, he meets others in similar circumstances. None stay long. Some go by rope, some by knife, some by poison. Elijah (19m) As Bengali Muslim taxi driver Haider’s American Dream crumbles, his relationship with his transgender son challenges his past views on LGBTQ issues, forcing him to confront prejudice in his community to protect the child he loves. Finding Peace in My Body (19m) This film follows the life of Achim Howard and his struggles in becoming the man he is today. Grace (19m) Determined to impress a record executive, Grace Gordon, a resilient trans singer, performs at a Los Angeles nightclub in pursuit of making it big during the vibrant 80s music scene. MĀHŪ: A Trans-Pacific Love Letter (30m) MĀHŪ: A Trans-Pacific Love Letter is a short documentary about an innovative theater production by master hula teacher, Kumu Hula Patrick Makuakāne, which aims to reclaim and celebrate the traditional place of honor and respect given to māhū (transgender) people.
