COME BACK TO THE 5 & DIME, JIMMY DEAN, JIMMY DEAN (1982)
Director: Robert Altman
Co-starring Sandy Dennis, Karen Black
Before Silkwood announced her dramatic talents to a wider audience, Cher gave one of her earliest major film performances in Robert Altman’s intimate ensemble drama. As Sissy, a spirited member of a James Dean fan club reunited with old friends twenty years later, Cher brings warmth, humor, and surprising vulnerability to a story of memory, identity, and the secrets we carry with us. Adapted from the Broadway production in which Cher also appeared, the film offers a fascinating glimpse of an actress just beginning to reveal the dramatic range that would soon transform her career.
